Considerably increased the areas of library. The subscription for students to the address Uchebnaya St., 39 which began to be called Educational library opened.
Then there was a hall/subscription of fiction in the hostel on Vershinin St., 50.
Changed structure of library. In 1972 (order No. 289 of April 26) the department of scientific and medical information with three established posts was organized, which was a part of scientific and educational library as structural unit and submitted to the vice rector for scientific work professor E.D. Golberg.
In the annual report we read: “For the most effective use of medical literature the group of informants worked (order No. 439 of June 14
1972) on a voluntary basis from among research associates of departments” . In the list 51 persons appear. Besides “… was organized Public
bureau of medical information (11 people, order No. 88 of May 18, 1972) which exercised “control of work of informants on problems of institute”.
Annually was approved by the order of the rector the structure of Council of library (15 people, the staff of departments) Which helped to solve pressing problems: completing, hardware, information work, communications with departments … Council the vice rector for study professor headed many years

Archive materials about activity of library contain phrases, very characteristic of those years: “… It is possible to note increase in a role of library in life institute, growth of its political activity … The library proved as the effective assistant to the party organization in business
communistic education of students, in the solution of specific objectives of institute, development of science, culture and health care …”
“… The library carried out a lot of work on improvement of ideological work on counterpropaganda activity …” , etc.

In 1977 library was awarded with the Diploma of the winner of a review of work of libraries to the 60 anniversary of Great October, organized
the state interdepartmental library commission at the Ministry of Culture of RSFSR and the Central Committee of labor unions of cultural workers.
In 1978 work of TMI library was checked by the commission of the Ministry of Health of RSFSR. Work of library was given a good mark.
Very important event in activity of library was transfer to the II group on compensation of executives and experts.
Number of library workers by the end of the 1980th years made 38 people.
Since 1984 the library was headed by Ekaterina Nikolaevna Shavshina.
Should note significant growth in book fund during this period.
In 1980 fund grew to 651332 copies, by the end of the 80th years it made already 740851 a copy. This was the highest rate
the number of fund for all history of library.
