The early years of the library’s establishment are associated with the names of Lyasotsky Ivan Yefremovich, a well-known local historian in Tomsk and the author of several books on the history of the city, and Sterkhova Vasily Stepanovich, an associate professor of the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy.
During the 1950s and 60s, the library was headed by: Guselnikova Maria Vasilievna served as the director from 1948 to 1961. Rodygin Ivan Romanovich served from 1961 to 1964.
Starting in 1964, Alekseevskaya Maria Afanasyevna was the director for 20 years. From 1984 to 1994, the library was directed by Shavshina Ekaterina Nikolaevna. From 1994 to 2002, the director was Fedorova Lyubov Mikhailovna.
In 2003, the director became Terekhova Marina Valentinovna.
